
What is black soap?
West african black soap was first made in Nigeria by the Yoruba tribe.
African black soap (generally it is dark brown) is a natural soap made traditionally by potash (which is the ashes of vegetable skins). Monshea african black soap is made from ashes of cacao pod. Plant oils like coconut oil, palm oil and shea butter is then added to a large pot or cauldron . During this cooking process the soap then takes on its distinctive colour.
