What is black soap?

West african black soap was first made in Nigeria by the Yoruba tribe.

African black soap (generally it is dark brown) is a natural soap made traditionally by potash (which is the ashes of vegetable skins). Monshea african black soap is made from  ashes of cacao pod.  Plant oils like coconut oil, palm oil and shea butter is then added to a large pot or cauldron . During this cooking process the soap then takes on its distinctive colour.

Why use black soap?

Black soap can help many skin conditions including problem skin, oily skin, acne,  eczema, There ha been a lot of anecdotal evidence that the recipe of  this unassuming looking soap is very effective.

Our cleansing bar packed with natural oils does not contain any chemicals. It will cleanse your face and body without stripping away your natural oils,  leaving you with a brighter, clearer complexion.

It does not leave soap residue  on your skin .

Suitable as a face and body soap.

We carefully source and directly work with independent soap makers  who ethically make their soaps using traditional methods and sustainable ingredients.

We pay them the rate they request for the products so because of that,  our  soap will not necessarily be the cheapest. However we are happy to support & encourage  the enterprise  of our soap makers by finding a wider market for them to sell their products and minimise the affects of poverty in their villages.

Your support  of purchasing this product , means we can continue to support their enterprise.
